You don't need to be a tradesman or know one end of a chisel from the other. You just need to want a bit of company and a place to be useful.

Getting started

How to join

  1. 1

    Come down on a workday

    Drop in on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 7am and 1pm. No need to book — just come as you are and ask for a committee member.

  2. 2

    Have a look around

    We'll show you the workshop, introduce you to a few of the blokes and answer any questions. Take your time — there's no pressure.

  3. 3

    Sign up

    If it feels like your kind of place, fill out a membership form and pay the modest annual fee. That covers your insurance and helps run the Shed.

  4. 4

    Roll up your sleeves

    Jump on a project, start your own, or just put the kettle on and have a yarn. However you like to spend your time, you're welcome here.

  • Retired men aged 60 and over
  • All backgrounds and abilities welcome
  • No experience necessary
  • Modest annual membership fee
